PC Black Box is a freeware application which claims to record, encrypt, analyze and protect all files on your computer in order to keep them secure. Windows only allows one software file to be open at any given time by the operating system and this is what PC Black Box does. All the software programs on your computer are recorded on the startup configuration page of your PC. You can go through these and choose which ones you want to remove or quarantine for future use.
PC Black Box comes with several easily installable options to run quietly in the background. Log files generated by the program cannot be read if accidentally located. It has an internal registry editor, which lets you view all the registry entries with a click of the mouse. A built-in e-mail address is also provided which allows the removal of captured logs as well as an online helpdesk if you feel the need to contact customer service.
PC Black Box is one of the programs that many people say is essential to keeping a system running smoothly, but does come with some negative points. The biggest problem for me personally is that whenever I have to restart my system, it takes several minutes for the log files to load. This may not seem like much of a problem for someone who doesn't use the application very much, but if you're a serious internet surfer, you may find this a huge problem. Luckily, there is an easy way to make sure the uninstall feature works properly.
